How Far Ahead Should We Book Your DJ Service?
Our recommendation is “as early as possible.”  For weddings, we recommend 6 months to a year in advance or as soon as you have booked your wedding venue.  For corporate, private parties, birthdays, and teen events we recommend several months in advance as DJ Chong Lor can only be at one event at a time.

What If The Date That I Want Is Not Available?
We wish we could be available for every single event, but if DJ Chong Lor is unavailable for your event date please do not despair.  We have many incredible friends in the industry that we would love to refer you to.  We will never double book your event and sub-contract another DJ company.  If DJ Chong Lor cannot accommodate you personally, he will direct you to some incredible DJ Entertainers that he has worked with and will help you find the right DJ to match your style and musical taste. 

What Are Your Rates?
Our rates vary depending on your type of event, package chosen, how much time is needed, location and specific customizations that you would like to have done for your special event.  

How Much is Your Deposit Requirement?
We require a retainer of 50% of your chosen package to lock in YOUR SPECIAL DATE.  We accept debit cards and all major credit cards. We also accept cash, check and online payments via Paypal, Venmo, and Zelle.

Do You Charge For Travel?
We charge $75 for every hour that we have to drive one way outside of the Charlotte metropolitan area.  If we have to travel more than three hours, we ask that lodging be provided for the day of the event.  We do not charge a travel fee to any venue within an hour drive of the Charlotte metropolitan area.

What Happens After I Book With You?
Once you book with us, you will be given access to our online planning portal with your own login and password.  The online planning portal will allow you to sign your contract, create your special event timeline, add your music choices, make stress free payments and so much more!  DJ Chong Lor will reach out to you to schedule a face-to-face or virtual planning session 6-8 weeks from your special event to make sure all details are covered.

What Kind of Equipment Do You Use?
DJ Chong Lor uses professional-grade sound equipment (QSC and EV brands).  We have wireless handheld and lapel mics, event lighting, and a premium sound system that can be customized for your event.  We can accommodate a small, intimate wedding of less than 100 guests or can go all out for a prom dance party for 800+ students!

Can We Choose The Music?
Definitely! It’s YOUR Event. Your Music. Your Way.  While we are happy to make suggestions, we encourage our clients to pick their Must Plays, Play If Possible, Do Not Play songs that we can mix into their evening.  We have clients who want everything played on their playlist; we have clients that are hands off and trust us to create the mood for their guests and everything in between.

Do You Have Current Music? 
We update our music library weekly so we always have radio-friendly versions of current music.  Please feel free to request specific songs or artists that you want played at your event.  We will make sure to have the radio-friendly versions of your favorite hits on the day of your event.

Will The DJ Help With Announcements?
DJ Chong is happy to make announcements and help coordinate activities to keep your event moving along smoothly.  These formalities will be planned out with our clients beforehand so there are no surprises, but we like to remain flexible in case guests need a gentle reminder to stop by the photobooth or sign the guestbook before the party starts.

Is The DJ Going To Be Cheesy/Obnoxious?
DJ Chong understands that he is there to help enhance the enjoyment of your event, not to try to be the “star” of it.  The event is about you, not the DJ. That being said, if you think your guests may need some help getting on the dance floor, DJ Chong Lor can help break the ice with some line dances or sing alongs to help get the party started.  If the guests are already dancing and having a great time, he will focus on keeping the energy high with great song selections and minimal microphone work.  He does a wonderful job at gauging the crowd and creating a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone’s merriment.

What Time Will The DJ Arrive?
It depends on your event type.  For a small, private event, DJ Chong will arrive an hour early for a quick 30 minute set up and sound check.  For a wedding with several different setups (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception), he will arrive three hours before the ceremony start time to ensure all set ups are neat, orderly, and sound checked.  

What Does The DJ Wear?
DJ Chong owns a tuxedo, but does not want to get confused for a groomsman or a prom attendee so he will usually wear semi-formal attire or a suit unless directed to do so.  For casual outdoor events, he will wear a Polo shirt and khakis. 

What Do You Need The Venue to Provide For You?  
We only require an electrical outlet.  We will provide our own adjustable DJ table and fitted linens for our set up.

Do You Have Insurance?  
Yes, we have DJ event insurance. We would be happy to send a copy to you or to your venue.
